Guest lectures

The GreenKidz Guest Teachers Team Consists of a group of passionate, multilingual teachers with a big green heart. Our team provides modern, interactive guest lessons that children love and also develops all teaching materials ourselves.

We provide our guest lessons for primary, special, and secondary education in the preferred language of the school (Dutch and/or Papiamento) and always tailor our lesson programs to the wishes of each school.

Core Themes of GreenKidz

We offer four types of guest lessons and support these lessons with bilingual teaching materials such as presentations, worksheets, visual aids, and tests, which can be downloaded for free at www.greenkidz.org

Guest Lesson 1 | Clean Curaçao

• A lively guest lesson about waste and litter.
• Sponsorship amount ANG 250,- per GreenKidz guest lesson
• In this GreenKidz guest lesson, children learn about the different types of waste and litter. With beautiful presentations, posters, statements, and songs, they learn why litter is harmful to nature, people, and animals, and how they can ensure that less waste is produced. In this lesson, children also learn about the decomposition times of waste and the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Refuse. Finally, with a miniature recycling unit, they practice how to recycle plastic and aluminum themselves in Curaçao and receive a coloring page as a gift.

Guest Lesson 2 | Coral Heroes

• An interactive guest lesson about the coral reef of Curaçao.
• Sponsorship amount ANG 250,- per GreenKidz guest lesson.
• In this GreenKidz guest lesson, children discover how beautiful the coral reef is and what corals and sea creatures can be found in the reef.
• With beautiful presentations, posters, games, and visual aids, they learn why the coral reef is so important and what functions the coral reef serves. In this lesson, children also learn how coral reefs worldwide are under pressure. and how our own reef is threatened. With the help of songs, local videos, quizzes, and mind maps, they eventually learn how to enjoy the coral reef responsibly.

Guest Lesson 3 | Don't Give Mosquitoes a Chance

• A stimulating guest lesson on mosquito prevention.
• Sponsorship amount ANG 250,- per GreenKidz guest lesson
• In this GreenKidz guest lesson, children learn through lively activities how mosquitoes transmit diseases and how to locate and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. In the lesson, we work with mosquito puppets, mosquito puzzles, and mosquito games.
• In this lesson, children also learn about the anatomy and life cycle of mosquitoes and about the means you can use to prevent mosquito bites. Finally, they conduct a mosquito scavenger hunt on the schoolyard and solve a mosquito riddle.

Guest Lesson 4 | Trees Are Important

• An exploratory guest lesson on indigenous trees.
• Sponsorship amount ANG 250,- per GreenKidz guest lesson
• In this GreenKidz guest lesson, children learn in the classroom and outdoors why trees are so important. With beautiful presentations, group assignments, quizzes, and the story 'The Tree That Saw Everything', they learn what trees have to offer both people and animals.
• In this lesson, children also go on an exploration. In a tree-rich environment, they count and measure trees, look for insects (biodiversity), and measure the temperature under trees and in the bright sun to discover for themselves how trees combat global warming.
